Fishmeal replacement in carnivorous fish by Sam Ceulemans Apr 09, 2010 - Istanbul, Turkey Invited by the U.S Soybean export Council, Sam Ceulemans, from our Nutriad Technology Center,presented a paper on fishmeal replacement in carnivorous fish to an audience of about 50 feedmills' owners and feed producers.The talk raised a lot of interest , triggered by the currently fishmeal high prices in Turkey.
The presentation outlined the current situation of fishmeal and fish oil in the international market, emphasizing the decline in global production and the increasing demand which is inevitably causing prices to rise.It was further explained the fishmeal need for carnivorous fish and its effects on growth as well as the feed utilization when fishmeal is replaced by vegetables sources like nutritional unbalances,reducing palatability and the negative effects on digestion and mainly on fat digestion.Lastly,specific Nutriad additives research and trial work were presented on seabream and seabassas as an effective solution to the issue. |  |
